WELCOME HOME
Are you dreaming of a beautiful home you love that draws your family and friends to come in and create memories? Do you have interior design ideas from Pinterest and Houzz that you admire, but you're unsure how to achieve that look and feel? Are you concerned about staying on budget while transforming your home into an outcome worthy of your investment? Then, I invite you to get to know me and my Charlotte area interior design firm, Gracious Living by Design, offering a range of services and custom home furnishings.
First, let me say that the process of creating your dream home is all about you and my understanding of your needs. But since you are here, you probably would like to know a bit about me. I am a graduate of The George Washington University Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design program and I've been featured in The Washington Post, Virginia Living Magazine and The Enchanted Home blog along with being recognized as Best Interior Designer in Northern Virginia and Best of Houzz for my service to clients.
My passion for beautiful interiors began at an early age when I would pour over my parents' Architectural Digest magazines and rearrange my playhouse constantly. Although I've always loved space planning and the decorative arts, interior design is a second career for me. Prior to 2001, I worked in Washington, DC in event management and later in national sales for luxury resorts. I thrived in these roles because I sought to exceed expectations by providing a personalized client experience. As with many people, September 11 caused me to rethink the way I was spending my time. I chose to change direction and pursue my passion by enrolling in interior design school.
During and after completing my Masters Degree, I worked for two highly-regarded interior designers in the Washington DC metro. I learned essential business and design skills from them and in 2011, I decided to start my own firm in Northern Virginia. The invaluable nature of strong client relationships became quickly apparent to me. Clients invite me into their homes and their lives allowing me the privilege of becoming a trusted partner, a role I consider an honor. I have worked with mothers who've referred me to their daughters and I've worked with clients on multiple homes from their primary residences to vacation homes. Relationships truly built and sustain my business.
With Carolina on my mind, in the summer of 2015, I moved with my husband and three children to the Charlotte area to be close to family in my hometown. As a born Tar Heel and UNC graduate, I'm pleased North Carolina is home to my family and my interior design firm.

While my roots are traditional and Southern, I purposely do not ascribe to a signature style because my design philosophy is to interpret and reflect your aesthetic preferences and your values. I don't follow rules, I use design principles. My designs resemble a collage thoughtfully layered with form, function, detail and personality. When I present my designs to you, I enjoy explaining the "why?" behind my choices. Within our discussions, the collaborative design evolves and the interior space becomes distinctly yours. By getting to know your lifestyle, I'm thrilled to reveal your surroundings to you in a new way.

Please take a look at my service options, my portfolio and read client testimonials. Then, get in touch. I welcome the opportunity to get to know you and begin designing the home of your dreams.

Fondly,
Anna Kucera
